The British steamship Spero was on a journey from England to Drammen with a cargo of wood when the ship went on Blyrevet on 23. December 1917. Spero was stuck on the reef for several days, and later the Norwegian rescue steamers Ula and Neptun arrived the site. But the ship was to damaged and disappeared later in the deep. In 1919 the cargo was salvaged by the rescue steamer Erling Skjalgson, and after this the wreck was forgotten. In 1968 SPero was found by the sportsdivers Steinar and Odd Huseby, and among the wreck debris there were located a great deal of cases with 100mm grenades to the gun onboard Spero. The Norwegian navy had to disarm the ammunition later, but still you can find live ammunition on the wreck site. Today the wreck of Spero has collapsed, but the remains rests on a depth of ten to twenty meters northeast of Kjønneboene. A boat and nice weather is neccesary to get out to the remains of Spero...
