Breiva sank outside Grønningen lighthouse during a journey from Kristiansand city to Northern Norway with a cargo of wood. After they left Kristiansand, a the engine room caught fire and the crew had to abandon ship. Later the same day Breiva was taken under tow towards Kristiansand, but at the entrance to Kristiansand the rescue party understood that the ship couldn't be saved, and dropped the cable. Breiva was left burning and shortly after the ship disappeared in the depth. Today the wreck lies on a depth of five to thirty five meters, and even if the ship burned all the way down to the waterline, you can still see large parts of the ship...
