The German steamship Elise Schulte went down on the 11. January 1942 right under the bridge in the Dyrøysundet in Troms county. The ship was on the way from Rotterdam to Kirkenes with a cargo of coal when she stranded, and the ship remained stuck for several hours before she disappeared in the deep. The crew sent message about the accident, and there was sent a rescue boat from the Germans which arrived on the site nearly at the same time that the ship sank. The hole crew were brought in to land, and no one were injured in the accident. It exist several ships with the same name, and this have through the years resulted in a confusion over the different ships. The magazine Dykking had a report about this, and set focus on the different "Elise"-ships. And along the Norwegian coast, there are two ships with the same name. Anyway, this Elise Schulte rest today just south of the bridge in the Dyrøysundet, and is normally marked with a buoy. There were salvaged a lot on the wreck in the years after the war, and at the time of writing the wreck has started to fall apart. The wreck of Elise Schulte rest on a depth from five to thirty two meters. The site can easily be accessed with a car...
