The steamship Tinn disappeared strangely enough in the deep in the Tinnsjøen immediately under the launching on the 24. August 1910. The vessel was built in different parts in Kristiansand, and brought up to Tinnsjøen in parts where she later was put together to a whole ship. The total cost was a total 88.000 nkr, and that was a lot of money in those days. But any long career the vessel never gained. The launching of the vessel was honored with music and formell baptizing with the name Tinn, and as soon as the vessel hit the water, she began to tip over and sank immediately. After this strange accident the vessel was left in peace until 1988 when divers found the vessel on nearly one hundreds meters depth in a surprisingly good condition. There have been several technical dives on the wreck of Tinn, and among other things the ship bell have been brought up from the deep. The wreck of Tinn lies merely one hundred meters from land on a depth from 98 to 102 meters depth, so normal sports diving is of course not possible...
