Landan was on a journey
from Larvik to Sunndalsøra when the ship sank in the early
50`s . The reason to the accident was never completely solved,
but it was speculated that the cargo of iron constructions loosened.
As a result, the ship lost her control and stranded so hard that
it made a hole in the keel. Landan soon disapper in the deep,
and all the crew of four men came unharmed from the accident after
three of them swam in to land, and the captain who was the last
to abandon the ship used a light boat and was picked up by the
ship Oslo which came to assistance. The wreck of Landan rest today
next to the Svåholmane south of Egersund city on a depth
of forty five meters. The wreck is relatively intact and rest
almost on her starboard side nearly as a typical "Donald
Duck" wreck. You need a boat to dive on this wreck...
