On the north side of Jeløya by Vestre Nes outside Moss city, near the camping site which lies by the turn off lies a small public area with a forest and nice nature. Just follow the road in to the forest next to the camping site on Vestre Nes, and continue on the road which turns to the right in the forest. Shortly after you will come to the beach line. And it is just outside this site that there lies a small barge known by divers as the "Butter barge". The wreck of this steel barge with the name Denofa 13 went down 12. April 1951 with a cargo of 40 tons of butter, and was located by divers in the 70`s. Denofa 13
rest on her keel and is a typical "Donald Duck" wreck, resting
on a depth from nine to fifteen meters. The wreck lies straight
out for the big rock with a color differerance on the beach, just
below the toilet building. The distance out to the wreck is about
one hundred meters. You don't need a boat to dive on this wreck,
but must consider the heavy currents in the area...
Thanks to Dan Kåre Engebretsen for the information.
