In the summer 2004
divers from the dive club Ægir found the remains of a shipwreck
in open water at Kjerringa on Stadt. After some research
and little help from Erling Skjold \ NSA,
this proved to be the remains of the Norwegian ship Jonarnes who
sank in 1929. Jonarnes was on a journey from Larsnes to Sarpsborg
with limestone when the ship hit ground and disappeared in the deep.
The remains of Jonarnes rest today in open water a distance form
Svinøya on a depth of fifty meters. A boat and nice weather
is needed to reach the wreck site...
