12. September 1944, 35 planes arrives from
a British hangar ship that lies in the Northern Sea which are on
a Anti-shipping attack along the Norwegian coastline, and this was
going to be faithful for the vessel Felix Scheder who now sailed
under the name V - 5307. The vessel was after she was spotted by
the British Barracuda airplanes, bombed several times and went down
in the Åramsundet in Møre & Romsdal together with
22 persons that perished during the attack. Felix was laid down
at Nylands mechanical verk. in Oslo as a whaleboat before the Germans
required the vessel as a guard boat. Under German service the vessel
was equipped with sinking mines and two cannons which were placed
on the stern of the vessel. Felix Scheder lies today as a typical
"Donald Duck" wreck in the Åramsundet and the wreck was officially
found by Reidar Stridt in 1985. Close is also the wreck of Nobel.
Since then there have been many divers who has visited this beautiful
wreck. The bow with her cannons is in a good condition, but the
engine room which got was badly damaged under the bombing is pretty
broken down and destroyed. The stern of the wreck has also slided
away down in deep water and has disappeared. The wreck lies on a
depth of twelve to thirty meters and there are heavy current in
the area which can provide a certain risk during the dive. The site
also has heavy ship traffic so diving here needs preplanning. You
need a boat to get out to Felix Scheder...
