In the morning 21. June 1919 the commander Ludwig Von Reuter issued the order to launch "paragraph 11", the code for the fleet to scuttle. Within few hours almost the whole mighty German Hochensee fleet disappeared in the deep, with exceptions of a few destroyers and smaller units that the British navy managed to put ashore or avoid being scuttled. In the years that followed and all the way until the outbreak of second world war, most of the wrecks were salvaged by different companies, but still the wrecks of the König, Markgfraf, Kronprinz Wilhelm, Brummer, Dresden, Cõln, Karlsruhe and several smaller units rests in the deep outside Hoy. The wreck of the light cruiser karlsruhe rest today with a listing of 45 degrees towards port side on a depth of twelve to twenty five meters northwest of the island Cava in Scapa Flow. The midship is just a pile of wreck debris, but the bow and stern section is in a good condition...
