The Norwegian tanker M\T Holmengraa were built in 1943, but were never put to service under an norwegian flag. The Germans had a great need for tankers, and took instantly hold of the vessel when she was ready for duty. Holmengraa ended her days when she was bombed December 28th 1944 during an allied air strike marked for a attack on the german cruiser Köln. The allied planes failed to find the cruiser, but instead they found Holmengraa, Nordvard and the german uboat U 735, where they all sank... Holmengraa was hit right in the cargo rooms this night while she laid at anchor, and thirteen peoples lost their life. Holmengraa was located by divers in 1994 and has since been dived several times by technical divers. The wreck lies on a depth of seventy five to eighty meters north of Horten city, outside the northern tip of Løvøya. A boat is necessary to get out to the wreck site...
