The Norwegian owned ship Capella stranded on Kløvingbåen south of Tjøme in Vestfold county on 1. November 1962. Several rescue operations were attempted after the stranding, but nothing could save this vessel from the bad weather in this area. Capella was on a journey from Kirkenes to Oslo with a crew of 22 men ( and one woman ) and a cargo of trading goods when the accident occurred. Capella was used in coastal trafficking between Kirkenes and Oslo for seventeen years before she found her grave in the waters near Kløvingbåen two nautical miles south of Hvasser. The wreck of Capella rest today on Kløvingbåen on a depth of twenty meters and is a very popular wreck dive in Vestfold county. The sea has destroyed the wreck of Capella pretty much, but this is a wreck that's easy to find when the weather permits diving on her. A boat and nice weather is nessesary to get out to the wreck...
