The tugboat M\S Herkules went down in the deep outside Nyhavna in Trondheim, more precise between Ladehammeren and Munkholmen 16. September 1957. Herkules towed the 9000 tons M\S Lars Mehling, but because of poor skills of the crew, the cable laid itself across the ship and Herkules was pulled over to her port side. Shortly after the water flooded the ship. Captain P. Jørgensen and the crew of six men got away from the accident without injuries or loss of lives. After the accident a salvage attempt was proposed, but this never turned out. The wreck of Herkules rest today in a good condition on a depth of approx. sixty meters...
