Sterk was lost on the 13. September 1909 in Skatestraumen by Bremanger after the ship had got into a heavy storm. The ship was on a routine mission from Larsnes to Fredrikstad with a cargo of stone and a crew of sixteen men when they got into the heavy storm. It is dark and the vessel is in difficult waters with a lot of underwater reefs. At 11.30 p.m. Sterk hit the reefs and water pumps in to the ship. Thereafter it only takes a few minutes before Sterk sink and takes seven men with her to the deep. The rest of the crew is rescued by the vessel Astrea who witnessed the tragedy. The wreck can be found today in Skatestraumen north east of Bremanger on a depth of twenty five to thirty seven meters. The wreck of Sterk is very nice to dive on and can strongly be recommended.
