Ceang was a Norwegian
ship loaded with 576 tons of stone and was on a journey from Høgsvik
to Bergen when she went on a reef on 16. August 1977. In the accident
three of the crew of six men perished. Two of them were found
after the accident, but one is still missing even today. Divers
from Falken were down on the wreck after the accident, but could
not find the missing person. The divers could also tell that the
vessel had sunken quickly since one of the lifeboats still was
attached on the wreck. A rift in the bottom with a length of ten
meters gave the unlucky not more than some minutes to get into
the water during the accident. The wreck is today a great diving
site which rest on a depth of twenty five meters and is absolutely
worth a visit. The wreck lies outside Vestre Bokn approximately
45 km from Haugesund city. A boat is to be recommended if you
want to visit the wreck of Ceang, but it is also possible to reach
her from land. Drive to the end of the southern port and
swim out to the shore right outside. There lies the wreck between
the eastern and western Bokn almost one hundred meters from land,
just north of the pole. The wreck of Ceang rest on a depth of
nine to twenty five meters and is normally also marked with a
buoy...
