Det Norske dampskipet Anna Sofie gikk ned den 23. Februar 1944 vest for Haugesund under en reise fra Thamshaven til Emden i Tyskland etter å ha gått på grunn på Trollholmen nordvest av Vibrandsøy. Skipet fløt fortsatt etter ulykken, men en time senere sank skipet i sundet lenger nord. Mannskapet ombord kom fra det uten skader. Skipet ble opprinnelig bygget i England i 1919 under navnet War Cove, men ble senere samme år solgt til et selskap i Haugesund, og ble omdøpt til Anna Sofie. Under den andre verdenskrig gjorde skipet tjeneste for tyskerne, og hun ble bestykket med antiluftskyts som ble bemannet av tyske soldater. Skipet gikk i tjeneste langs den norske kyst. Vraket av Anna Sofie hviler idag på babord side med baugen pekende mot sør på en dybde av trettifem til femtito meter i temmelig god stand. Vrakstedet ligger et stykke vest for Haugesund, nærmere bestemt på Trollholmen mellom Vibrandsøy og Osnesgavlen, og for å komme ut til vraket av Anna Sofie må du ha pent vær og en båt...


The Norwegian steamship Anna Sofie went down 23. February 1944 west of Haugesund under a journey from Thamshaven to Emden in Germany after have struck ground on Trollholmen northwest of Vibrandsøy. The vessel still floated after the accident, but one hour later the vessel started to sink in the bay further north. The crew on board got away without any injuries. The vessel was originally laid down in England in 1919 with the name War Cove, but was later that same year sold to a company in Haugesund, and was then renamed Anna Sofie. Under the second world war the vessel did service for the Germans, and she was armed with antiaircraft weapons which was manned by German soldiers. The vessel did service along the Norwegian coast. The wreck of Anna Sofie rest listed today on her port side with the bow pointing southwards on a depth of thirty five to fifty two meters in pretty good shape. The wreck site is located a bit west of Haugesund, more exactly on Trollholmen between Vibrandsøy and Osnesgavlen, and to get out to the wreck of Anna Sofie you must have nice weather and a boat...

On July 5-1940 Anna Sofie was attacked by British aircraft at Sagvåg harbor, Hordaland.
6 died. Anna Sofie was badly damaged in this attack.
On Febr. 23-1944 she ran aground off Haugesund, there was an explosion
on board and she sank. No details on loss of life.
