The frigate Schleswig
stranded on Misingene outside Østfold county on the 13.
August 1711 after a service period in Tordenskiolds fleet. The
frigate went down during bad weather and out of the crew consisting
of 200 men, only one man survived. The remains of Schleswig were
found by Mr. Bodan Badowski while he was looking for a nice dinner...
crabs!. Badowski is also a former Falken diver and inspected the
wreck of Magne Sigurd who went down in 1956. There are not much
left of the Schleswig, but several cannons and a great anchor
lies on the southwest side of Søndre Misingen ( Southern
Misingen ). Norwegian Maritime Museum have salvaged different
belongings from the wreck and several of the cannons. Depth range
from five to thirty meters. A boat and nice weather is necessary..
Thanks to Mr. Badowski for the informative stories. |
