Lyra sank after she
stranded on Flateguri 23. December 1914, just outside Hankø
in Østfold county. Lyra was on a journey from Wallsend
On Tyne to Kristiania ( Oslo ). Norsk Bjergningskompani saved
the cargo and other inventory, and their own boat " Trold
" was lost during this work. Lyra had a crew of fifteen men and
was loaded with 1600 tons of coal. The wreck of Lyra lies today
on depths from ten to thirty meters on the southwest side of Flateguri
just outside Hankø, and is pretty much broken down. A boat
is necessary to reach out to Flateguri...
