Den
tyske ubåten U 864 The German submarine U 864 was Sunk 9 February 1945 in the North
Sea west of Bergen by torpedoes from the British submarine HMS Venturer.
73 german sailors lost their lives, the whole crew of U 864. The
German submarine was discovered by the Norwegian vessel KNM Tyr
in the spring of 2003, three kilometers west of the island of Fedje
on a depth of 140 meters. Because of hazardous cargo of quicksilver,
Norwegian authorities will in the near future seal of the wreck,
or possibly salvage the whole submarine...
